Furled Body Damsel

I came up for the idea for this fly while cleaning up the rigging station in the shop. A piece of blue fly line backing caught my eye and it looked perfect for creating a furled body for a damselfly.

Pattern Recipe:

• Hook: Short shank/wide gap dry fly hook size 12

• Thread: 8/0 Semperfli Classic Waxed (cornflower blue)

• Body: 30# braided dacron fly line backing (blue)

• Wing: Steve Farrar’s Flash Blend (white)

• Thorax: Semperfli Floating Poly Yarn (damsel blue)

• Eyes: Small black mono

• Sighter (optional): Small disc of brightly colored 1mm foam
